The Beacon on the Hollywood American Legion Post
We got dressed for the Oscars at 3 in the afternoon and walked across the street to the Hollywood American Legion Post 43. This was not your typical concrete and plywood legion hall. The outside had fancy tilework just under the roof and had a huge theater. The TORN folks did quite a job in decorating the venue, including building a beacon on one of the balconies. When the beacon was lit after dark, it sparked phone calls from people nearby, thinking it was an actual fire and not just lights.
