We walked quite a lot while we were in San Francisco and also took cable cars. It's too interesting a city to take the subway. For one thing, San Francisco has striking "micro-climates." The Golden Gate Bridge was shrouded in fog for almost the entire weekend. But the further away we got from Golden Gate, the better the weather got. Under two hours later, and less than two miles from where I took the first photo, I took this photo, showing most of downtown San Francisco clear.
