Each year, the Pittsburgh chapter of Women in Film and Media makes the following awards:
- The Opal and Patti Burns Awards recognize women in film and television for exemplary professional achievement as well as their contribution to the economic and cultural development of the region.
- The WIFM Scholarship acknowledges an outstanding film student.
This year, the Opals will be awarded on Saturday, May 17 in the Westmoreland Ballroom at the Westin Convention Center. Beginning at 7pm, we'll open with a dessert reception and a cash bar. The awards ceremony will start at 8pm. Carol Lee Espy will serve as the MC for the evening. Opal honorees include Catherine Hardwicke, Dawn Keezer, Eleanor Schano and Deborah L. Acklin.
Tickets cost $55.00. They may be purchsed online until through midnight, Wednesday, May 14, or at the door (credit card purchases only) beginning Thursday, May 15. If you are only attending the Opals, the check-in table will be open on the 2nd floor Rotunda at 6:30PM on Saturday, May 17.
If you want to buy a table of 10 for the evening, it will cost $500.00 and must be purchased before May 14. Let us know who will be joining you at your table.
