Cake in Honor of Janis Ian and Mike Resnick's Anthology Stars
I got to precisely one program item at Torcon 3 - the mass signing for Stars, a newly published anthology based on the songs of Janis Ian. As I'd met Janis at the last two Worldcons and have known Mike for ages, I bought and enjoyed the anthology. There are some good stories in it, and one really exceptional story by Tad Williams. I got my book signed by all of the contributors who were there, then wound up in the Green Room when the uncut cake made its appearance. Janis had married her partner Pat in Toronto the previous Wednesday, and Mike had given her away; I was delighted to buy and distribute wedding cards to gay friends!
